Mary Shelley's horror novel, Frankenstein, depicts forbidden knowledge of creating a new life. Frankenstein, the protagonist, is arduous to find out the secret of creating a life without parents' generation. Eventually, he ascertains to make it finds out how to make the new creature. Creating a new life is forbidden because it is against people's belief. People believed and still believes that only God could make creatures and only reproduction can bear offspring. Frankenstein's new way of creating a living thing seemed worth it when Frankenstein thought this success will discover the new field of science by showing people enhanced physical strength. However, by creating a monster and looking at the consequences of his creature, he feels regret right away. When Frankenstein finds out his friend, Clerval, is dead by the monster, he forebodes the death of his family. In the end, Frankenstein's whole family dies due to the monster. Victor's new discovery, which he thought was worthwhile, became the tragedy.
'You are mistaken,' said he. ' I will exert myself, and if it is in my power to seize the monster, be assured that he shall suffer punishment proportionate to his crimes (Shelley 253).'
This quote shows that Frankenstein regrets his experiment that resulted with the death of his family.
